Galole MP Said Buya and Garsen counterpart Ali Wario recounted their terrifying experience surviving the flooded River Tana as a stroke of luck.

Galole MP Said Buya and Garsen counterpart Ali Wario recounted their terrifying experience surviving the flooded River Tana as a stroke of luck. Along with 16 others, they went missing during a relief food distribution mission on Saturday, only to be rescued unharmed on Sunday.

The two legislators explained that taking a wrong shortcut resulted in them getting lost as the Tana River Banks were broken, all villages were flooded, and any path seemed like a shortcut. Running low on fuel, they were stranded, waiting for a miracle.

Fortunately, the lawmakers mentioned they managed to contact security agencies using one of their phones. They expressed gratitude to Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, the Kenya Navy, and the Kenya Red Cross for their efforts in ensuring their safe return. The Tana River County Commissioner Mohamed Noor mentioned that a group led by a village elder traced and rescued the team using a boat.
